Re: Curt Bentzin "Primarflex" Demontage, Wartung und Reparatur.
No, you also have to remove the central leather piece on the other side of the box. Then you will find the screws, which must be removed too.
Seen from behind:
The position of the lower axes of C 1 and C 2 depends on the position of the curtains seen from behind. On above picture I have positioned C 2 overlaping C 1, as it can be seen on a previous picture. That's why the lower axes of the curtains must follow the sequence 1/2 (not 2/1)!

Re: Curt Bentzin "Primarflex" Demontage, Wartung und Reparatur.
cabba:
mazdaro:Before doing so, you can check the spring for curtain 1 (C 1):
In your earlier photo, the curtain wheels 1 and 2 are reversed to what I have. I guess I will have to check C2, but direction is same? The wheel you have marked 1 is actually for my 2nd curtain (closing curtain) and the wheel 2 is for the 1st curtain (opening curtain).
OK, I checked both, there is tension on both of the... things. This is the end of the actual tension spring, right? Or the static part inside of the bottom curtain roller, how you want to think of it. I held the end in place with small pliers so it doesn't turn freely, and moved the small spring aside with a screwdriver. Both of the spring ends wanted to go clockwise. So the spring is not completely gone. But still the 1st curtain does not go anywhere, even if I push the actual curtain down with my finger.
Next step, taking the mechanism out to see what is going on? Or is there any other idea at this point.
edit / addendum:
I don't understand why I can't get the curtain to move from the top. I should be able to roll it down easily, right? There is no mechanism holding it to the top, when I take the tensioning wheel off. I am perplexed. I tried to stick my hand in the mirror chamber and roll the top roller of the 1st curtain, but it doesn't go. Very weird. Maybe I have to think about it a bit more, before taking the whole mechanism out.
Re: Curt Bentzin "Primarflex" Demontage, Wartung und Reparatur.
The 2nd pic shows two holes on top of each other. In your case the leather must be removed: there is no other way. Only the late models (Primarflex II) have a removable cover.
Re: Curt Bentzin "Primarflex" Demontage, Wartung und Reparatur.
Somebody has already removed the leather once I think, so it's not a complete disaster. Or at least the leather has shrunk many millimeters. I will soak it with isopropanol from the edges and try to lift it off the camera.
What about the mirror? How is it attached to the mechanism? Can the mirror stay in the camera when removing the whole mechanism? And if not, do I need to take out the finder, focusing screen, etc in order to get the mirror? I would rather not if it is not required, or I will mess up the focusing screen calibration.
Re: Curt Bentzin "Primarflex" Demontage, Wartung und Reparatur.
You must also remove the cover of the "mirror mechanism" inside the box. Don't worry about the mirror: the control board, the curtains and the mirror form one unit.
Once more:
The mirror has to be moved downwards (manually) in order to separate the unit from the box (shell).
Re: Curt Bentzin "Primarflex" Demontage, Wartung und Reparatur.
Mirror mechanism cover is a tricky one. The screws were cemented in place with tar(?), probably to prevent light reflections. Thread is gone on one screw or the camera, not sure which. But now: how to get it out of the camera? Remove the entire front plate? I have done this on a Salyut-C, there it was enough to remove the bayonet ring. But on this one it's the entire front plate it seems?
